Downloading for eternity...

Eventually the world's population will increase to such an extent that everything has to be rationed, every individual will be limited to one just one channel of LivingTv as opposed to the thirty-something you get nowadays, just the youghurt section of a Muller Crumble and just one pet-hate.
Fortunately, I've already chosen my pet-hate today. Microsoft.
This time it's not just because they're an evil, faceless and Australian [see this post] organisation, I actually have a reason.
I turned automatic updates on for the first time today, happily installed the 'minor' security updates which would stop hackers and phishers from stealing my souls and then began Service Pack Two. It started downloading, and downloading, and downloading... and downloading.
It took a total of 5 1/4 hours to complete the 113MB download. That's roughly 2.7mb/min, which is crap.
What's even crappier is that it takes it that 5 1/4 hours AND 15 minutes installing time for it to tell me I need a legal version of Windows to install it. Why the frigging hell couldn't they have told me that BEFORE I started the bloody download? Actually, I would have been happy if they hadn't of let me download ANY updates, rather than lulling me into a full sense of security.
Also, I have no idea where the bloody files been downloaded to, so I can't get rid of it! That's 0.412Gb of my harddrive already wasted (the other 0.2991Gb resulting from The Rasmus Album, I've Been Expecting You by Robbie and one particularly dreadful free song from iTunes Music Store).

Anyway, Toodle-ooy

Marin
